How to Make the Italian Coffee Mixed Drink

An Italian coffee mixed drink combines the rich flavor of coffee with a touch of sweetness. This particular mixed drink is ideal for a cold winter night, for a treat at a luncheon or as a pick me up after a long day at work.

Ingredients List

1.5 oz. of amaretto

8 oz. of coffee

.5 oz. of Brandy (optional)

Whipped cream (optional)

Maraschino cherry (optional)

  1. Measure 1.5 oz. of Amaretto. Typically, most glasses are equivalent to 1.5 oz.

  2. Pour the liquor into an Irish coffee mug. If you do not have this type of mug, you may always use a standard coffee mug, especially if you are just making the drink for yourself.

  3. Fill the rest of the glass with coffee. Most people use either an Irish coffee, Columbian blend or a Costa Rican blend. However, any coffee of your choosing is fine.

  4. Add .5 oz. of Brandy into your drink if you wish. This is not actually part of the original Italian coffee mixed drink, but it has become a growing trend.

  5. Place whipped cream on top of the drink. You may make your own whipped topping using chilled cream and a whisk. If you do not make your own, you may always improvise with store bought whipped cream. The whipped cream acts as an extra boost of sweetener and as a garnish. It is not necessary nor is it how the original version of the drink was made.

  6. Put a maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream. You are ornamenting the drink with the cherry and it also is not a part of the original drink.
