How to Make a Professional Art Portfolio
A big part of any successful artist career is their art portfolio. Arranging a professional art portfolio makes it easy for a potential employer to view the type of skills that are offered in a smaller portion. A professional portfolio takes away the stress of making sure that one gives the best first best impression.
- Store and keep up with all of the work that has made throughout the art career. Keeping track of all of the work that has been made will allow the person viewing the portfolio to see the progression that has taken place in the artist's work.
- Organize a master portfolio. Include all artistic pieces, including the best slides and prints from the entire career. Group and organize like pieces together and smaller items together to make the portfolio easy to navigate through.
- Decorate the portfolio. Make all the art pieces look nice by bordering each individual artwork while working with a good professional quality of paper. Over mat each page. Over matting keeps finger prints off of the prints.
- Make a job portfolio using the pieces within the master portfolio. Only include pieces relevant to the job that is being applied for. Organize the job portfolio with tabs to make it easy to look through.
- Digitize all of the art work in both portfolios. Digitizing the art work not only prevents the loss of prints but it also looks attractive when sending work afar. Digitized photos can either be stored on a CD or be put directly on the Internet.
