How to Make a Fashion Leaf Print T-Shirt
A fun nature craft to make is a leaf print t-shirt. Kids love making their own fashion statement with these unique and fabulous creations. To create a fashionable leaf print shirt, you need to start with a nature walk. Pick up a variety of sizes and types of leaves. If you find other plants with interesting shapes, pick those up, as well. You can always get adventurous and play around with a variety of design ideas.
Prep work:
- Choose leaves on your nature walk.
- Place leaves between sheets of paper.
- Place the sheets of paper, with leaves flat between two books.
- Let sit for up to a week and a half.
Supplies for shirt:
- Paint
- Sponge or sponge roller
- Paintbrush
- Paper or cardboard
Directions
- Place paper or cardboard inside shirt, to prevent bleeding.
- Apply paint to pressed leaves. Use the sponge to spread paint on the leaves.
- Press leaves lightly on shirt and remove.
- Use paintbrush to fill in any spots that were missed in pressing the leaves on the shirt.
- Add you own little touches with the paint. to make each shirt unique.
- Allow your creations to dry overnight, before wearing them. Either lay flat and leave undisturbed or hang in a safe place.
It is best to wash the completed shirts in cold water and hang dry, to prevent damaging your artwork and to make it last.
