How to Make Hunting Scents

If you have a passion for hunting and find it hard to catch your prey, you should highly consider making some hunting scents. Animals have an incredible ability to smell their predators presence and the hunting scent will cover your scent, thereby making it easier for your to sneak up on your intended prey.

How to Make Hunting Scents



  1. Gather three gallons of natural stock from a wooded area. One gallon should be pine needles, one gallon should be acorns and the other gallon should be a mixture of leaves, moss, twigs, bark, sticks and nuts.

  2. Place the stock into an extra-large pot and completely cover it with water.

  3. Set the pot on the stove and turn the burner to the highest heat setting.

  4. Place a lid on the pot and when the water starts to boil reduce the heat setting to low and let it simmer.

  5. Allow it to simmer for approximately 45 minutes. Use a wooden spoon to stir on occasion.

  6. Turn of the heat and remove the lid from the pot and allow it to cool for approximately three hours.

  7. Place a strainer over the pot and pour the stock through the strainer into a large bucket or container.

  8. Use a funnel to put some of the stock into a spray bottle.

  9. Spray the stock on your hunting gear and clothing before going hunting.
