How to Live in a Pickup Truck Camper
Whether going on a camping, hunting or fishing trip sometimes a pick up camper can provide the cheapest and most convenient lodging. A pickup truck camper is a shell that goes over or into the bed of the pickup truck making a shelter. A pickup truck camper is not designed for long term living, but is the perfect solution for a sort rugged trip.
- Make the most of your space. The space inside a pick up camper is usually only big enough for one person. Bring only what you will need for your trip. Large items such as camping chairs and televisions may take up valuable space that could be used for blankets, food and camping gear.
- Bring lots of blankets for warmth. Pickup truck campers usually do not provide their own heating or air conditioning. Bring blankets to prepare for the cold while you sleep.
- Keep first aid supplies on hand. If you are camping, it is likely that you will be far from medical facilities. Bring a first aid kit in the event you or someone with you sustains an injury.
- Make sure your camper door has a lock. Some thieves specialize in targeting pickup truck campers when the inhabitants are away hiking, fishing or hunting. Keep your supplies safe by making sure to lock up every time you leave the camper.
- Park somewhere that offers bathroom and shower facilities. Campers only provide shelter from the elements and often do not have a shower or bathroom. Using a campsite that offers these facilities can make your trip more sanitary.
- Do not let people ride in the camper when the vehicle is in motion. It can be unsafe to allow people to remain in the camper when you make your way back home. Ensure that all passengers are properly buckled into the cab of the truck.
