How to Install a Wireless Security Camera Outside Your Home

Security cameras are a very effective way of ensuring home security. While there are many types of cameras to choose from, wireless cameras are most effective since they are most suitable to outdoor use. Using these outside your home ensures entry level safety, which lets you monitor all the access points of your home rather effectively.

  • Choose the right type of camera based on your needs. It is advisable to use those with added features such as a better zoom and tilt capabilities providing capability to cover wider areas. Just be sure that the camera can meet all of your needs.

  • Decide a point of vantage to install the camera.

  • Pick the best possible angle for the camera that allows for maximum use of tilt capabilities and zoom without any obstruction.

  • Choose the ideal height to position the camera. Make sure that this height allows you to cover both distant points and those that are close to the access point.

  • Hold the camera's mounting bracket in place with one hand and use a pencil to mark the screw holes with the other.

  • Select a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the screw you will use to mount the bracket.

  • Drill a hole into the wall.

  • Hold the mounting bracket in place and insert the screws into the predrilled holes and screw them in place.

  • Secure the camera onto the mounting bracket.
