How to Install Acrylic Bathtubs
Creating your perfect bathroom can be a challenge, but also one of the easiest projects that you can do. If you are looking to install a new acrylic bathtub, then you can have it ready within the next day. In addition, you can decide where you want the tub as well as the pride in having installed your own bathtub.
Things you would need:
- Adhesive
- Level
- Shim material
- Caulk (tile and tub sealant)
- Plumber’s putty
- New bathtub
- Overflow drain kit
Instructions:
- Take out the bathtub that is already located in your bathroom.
- Examine all of the fixtures that were around the bathtub. Measure the spot to see if there is enough space for the dimensions of the tub. Determine whether or not the tub is going to need to be up against a wall for support.
- Locate the draining system and make sure that it can evenly line up with the new drain system from the new tub. Use the plumber’s putty to set the drain to prevent leakage.
- Determine if the floor of your bathroom is level. This is an important step, because it can throw off the whole installation process. You can purchase mortar or shim material to use if you find the floor is not even.
- Position the new bathtub in the place of the old tub. Use adhesive that should be recommended by the manufacturer. The adhesive should be left to air dry.
- Seal all of the edges of the tub by using caulk on the floor and on the wall. Let everything dry accordingly before using the tub.
