How to Inexpensively Remodel a Bathroom

There are several ways to give your bathroom a new look without spending a fortune. The key to remodeling your bathroom inexpensively is to set realistic goals within a budget. Think about what you want your bathroom to look like when you're finished and decide if this is something you can do yourself.

  1. Draw up a budget. Decide how much you want to spend and stay within your budget. It's best to determine how much you want to spend on your bathroom remodeling, and then save the money rather than take out a loan.

  2. Buy some paint. You can paint the walls, the cabinets and the trim in the bathroom. If your bathroom cabinets are wood, strip the paint and stain with a durable stain to give your bathroom a different look.

  3. Consider new hardware. Buy new hardware for your doors and cabinets and replace the old. This is a quick and fairly inexpensive way to give your bathroom a fresh, new look

  4. Replace your curtains. Shower and window curtains can be replaced to give your bathroom a new look, as well. Save money by making the curtains yourself if you are good at sewing.

  5. Accessorize your bathroom. Replace your accessories in the bathroom with new towel racks, bath rugs and cup holders. You can also spruce up your shower with a fancy shower curtain rod and shower curtain rings.

  6. Change the lighting. You can easily replace the light fixtures in your bathroom while spending very little. Update your bathroom's lighting with new lighting fixtures that are energy efficient to save on your electric bill as well.
