Internet Explorer, created by Microsoft, is probably the world’s most preferred web browser. The latest version of Internet Explorer is 9. If you want or need an older version, you can find it by searching the Internet for free downloads. You can then download the desired version to your system.

How to Get Internet Explorer

• Search the Internet for free downloads of Internet Explorer.


• Make sure the version is compatible with your system. (See next section.)


• Click the download link, and a box will open asking if you want to save or install.


• Click the box you prefer, and the download will begin.


• Follow directions on how to install into your system.

The latest versions of Internet Explorer

• Internet Explorer 9, compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, has built in security features and faster web browsing.

• Internet Explorer 8, compatible with Windows XP, 2003 and Vista, has faster performance, a smart address bar and improved privacy protection.


• Internet Explorer 7 is compatible with Windows XP.

To determine which version a PC is running

• Click "Start", right click "My Computer".


• Double click the "Properties" tab.


• Look under Systems to determine which version you have.
