How to Get Ahead Without a College Degree
Not having a college degree does not mean you cannot have a promising career. There are many ways to make a decent income and have all the things that you want. Not everyone is college material, you may find that you like working with a small trade.
- Determine what you want to do with your life. It is important to know what it is you are good at doing and strive to be the very best in doing just that.
- Look for jobs that do not require you to have a college degree. Although the higher paying jobs may be for those who have degrees, you can still find a job that will pay enough for you to take care of your living expenses.
- Get a part time job. If you feel your full-time job is not allowing you to make enough money for your bills, consider working a second job.
- Put money in the bank. When you get paid, make sure you put money to the side. You will need to plan for a rainy day. It is best to always have enough money in the bank to at least take you through 6 months without being employed.
- Consider taking workshops or training courses that will help you get jobs. There are many jobs that offer training on the job, these training classes can help you advance in your career and make more money.
- Speak with a career counselor. Many times you can benefit by having someone else work with you on meeting certain goals in your life. They may be able to point you in the right direction on how to get special training or where to look for employment with the type of skills that you have.
