How to Fine Tune LPG Vaporizers
Liquid propane gas tanks are engineered and designed to contain propane at high-pressure levels. The tanks are available in various sizes for utilization in camper and mobile home heating and cooking and for gas grills. The following procedure will assure proper safety and performance levels by fine-tuning the liquid propane gas vaporizer.
Items Needed:
- Owner’s manual
- Propane tank
- Storage location
- Vehicle to transport the tank
- Purchase tanks from reputable gas supply dealers.
- Reject a damaged tank. Tanks are reused over and over and can become damaged.
- Select the proper size tank for the product, as larger tanks produce more vapor than smaller tanks.
- Read the instruction manual to determine the amount of vapor required for consumer products, such as gas grills, radiant heaters, gas fireplace logs, mobile home and camper heaters and stoves.
- Ask questions at the gas supply dealership, as employees have a wealth of knowledge.
- Examine the tank to determine if the amount of vapor produced by the tank is equal to the amount required by the product.
- Regulate the vapor by turning the restrictor knob at the top to the proper setting. The restrictor valve is located between the mixer and the vaporizer. This regulates the amount of vacuum on the liquid propane.
- Consider returning the tank to the gas supply company if the restrictor knob is malfunctioning or if gas can be smelled outside a tank that has not been switched to the “on” position.
- Preferably store the propane tank in an area that remains at room temperature to assure a finely tuned tank. The tank should always be stored in an upright position.
- Check the restrictor knob each time the tank is utilized to assure safety.
