How to Find a Preowned Vehicle

Purchasing a used certified pre-owned vehicle is a great idea for a parent looking for the first car for their newly licensed teenager, or for a single woman who lacks knowledge about the mechanics of a vehicle. There are several ways to find these type of vehicles.

  • Look online. This is a great way to find pre-owned vehicles without even having to leave the comforts of home. This also allows for price comparisons without driving all over town to do so.

  • Review the Kelly Blue Book site. There is a section on the site that estimates how much pre-owned vehicles are worth and also the average selling price.

  • Check the used inventory at new dealerships. Once fall arrives, the cars for the next upcoming year are already being delivered to new car dealerships. To make room on the lot, dealers will often slash the prices on used pre-owned vehicles.

  • Expand the search. Look beyond local dealers and expand the search to within a hundred mile radius in order to find pre-owned vehicles. Larger cities have more competition, therefore chances of finding a deal will increase in these areas.

  • Be flexible on options. If having a specific color or model is not imperative, then search for colors that have been discontinued on certain vehicles. This can often times lead to hundreds in savings.

  • Be open to buying online. There are many people who have purchased cars on eBay Motors without any issues. That being said, it is always wise to make sure that there is a return policy in place for the protection of the buyer.
