Working in the human service field as a child welfare worker is a great way to help out children and families in need. In order to work as a child welfare worker, it is necessary to complete a Bachelor of Science in Human Services before getting a job as a child welfare worker.


  • Ask the school where you received a degree in human service if they have a job fair program to help students obtain employment upon graduation. Many schools have job placement programs in place to help students get a job when they successfully complete a degree.



  • Look in the local newspaper's classified section to see what jobs are available in the local area. Look for listings that are advertising for a child welfare worker position. Contact the phone number that corresponds with the ad to determine what you need to do to apply for the position.



  • Visit craigslist and click on the link that represents the city and state in which you are seeking employment. Once on the main page for the selected area, you will the need to locate the “Jobs” category on the right-hand side of the screen. Listed under this category is a link for "Human Resources." Click on this link to view job listings in the human service field to determine if there are any ads for a child welfare worker position.
