How to Design a Grooming Salon

How to Decorate a Grooming Salon

Choosing how to decorate a grooming salon doesn't have to be difficult. While there are many styles to choose from, incorporating your own personal style -- as well as one that's practical and easy to clean -- is the best way to personalize the space.

  • Choose a single style or theme and build around it. Does the grooming salon specialize in a certain breed of cat or dog, or exotic animals? These can be highlighted in the decor.

  • Select materials that are easy to clean and that do not show dirt. Instead of carpet, consider an easy to clean tile or laminate flooring. Think about painting the walls in a high gloss finish for easy cleaning instead of a satin or even wallpaper.

  • Choose a color scheme or pattern and stick with it. A simple color scheme, such as a cream color and an accent such as red or blue can provide a clean and uncluttered look to a grooming salon, giving it a professional appearance.

  • Decorate the space with the animals in mind. If large dogs will be walking through the space, move any breakables to high shelves. Select furniture that is sturdy and cannot be bumped or knocked down. If cats will be present, choose furniture that cannot be climbed, such as avoiding bookshelves. In addition, all upholstered items should be covered with a slipcover or should be easy to remove and wash.

  • Decorate walls with photos of animals such as the breeds you groom, or with decals that can be repositioned and removed as desired.
