How to Hire Computer Consultants

How to Deal With Unreliable Computer Consultants

Most computer consultants are extremely reliable. However, there may come a time when your company has to deal with an unreliable computer consultant. You may need to deal with them by contacting them directly, contacting their company or suing them for breach of contract.

  • Attempt to contact the unreliable computer consultant. Try to get them on the phone first, and if that fails, contact them through e-mail. Let them know you are extremely unhappy with their services and their unreliability. Remind them of the terms you agreed on when you hired them for the job.

  • Contact their boss, if they have one. If you hired a computer consultant through a consulting firm and have problems with their reliability, contact their company. Let them know you are not satisfied. The consulting firm may be able to get your errant consultant back on track or assign someone else to your project. Obviously, if you hired an individual consultant, this is not an option.

  • Allow your lawyer to deal with the problem. This option should be used as a last resort in dealing with unreliable computer consultants. When you hired the computer consultant, you should have had them sign a contract stating the terms. If they are behaving unreliably, then they may be in breach of your contract. First, have your lawyer send them a letter reminding them of their duties under the contract. This may do the trick. If it does not, you can sue the computer consultant for breach of contract and either get the work done or recover the money you paid them.
