How to Curtain a Bay Window

  1. Measure the window. You need to know the exact dimensions of your window before purchasing curtains or rods for it. You will measure the length and width of the window. Write this information down to be sure you buy the correct curtain and rod sizes.

  2. Purchase a bent rod made for bay windows. These can be bought online or at home decor stores. Be sure to refer to your measurements from step one for the correct size.

  3. Choose your curtains. You can buy these pre-made, or you can make them from a choose fabric. If you are buying curtains be sure to choose a design the coordinates with the overall look of your bay window. If you window is in the kitchen, you may also consider a fabric type that is easy to wash, as they could get dirty fairly easy in the kitchen. Do not forget about your measurements when making this purchase. If you are selecting a fabric to make these curtains then use the same criteria when doing this shopping, but also incorporate room for error when selecting the amount of fabric. You should consider buying extra.

  4. Hang your curtains. Use the hardware provided with your curtain rods.
