How to Correct Bad Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup is a tattoo of the eyebrows, eyeliner and even eye shadow. A bad permanent makeup job can be impossible to fix, depending on where the makeup is at. There are ways to correct your problem, but they are not comfortable solutions. Permanent makeup is mostly what women use on a day-to-day basis.

  1. You can try and improve the makeup by adding color. Adding color can be very painful, but this is one of the simpler ways of correcting your issue. The tattoo artist can tattoo over the coloring with a pigment that matches your skin tone. This is a faux way to return closest to your natural skin color.

  2. Treatments with a laser, saltwater solution, or dermabrasion can remove most permanent makeup. The color that was originally used and the location of the tattoo will determine the outcome. Dermatologists are less likely to perform laser treatment for makeup removal around the eyes. Blue and green inks are almost impossible to remove.

  3. Locate a reputable tattoo artist for reapplication. Be sure to research prior to allowing just anyone to reapply your permanent makeup. The local health department can help you find a certified artist in your area.

  4. Inspect your potential artist. Ask them for references. A good makeup artist will more than likely have pictures of other faces that they have worked on. One way to check their work would be to make sure that the permanent makeup looks like makeup and not a tattoo. Also, make sure that the colors they have available match your skin tone.
