How to Clean Vinyl Patio Windows

Patio windows made with vinyl tend to last longer and are very durable. These types of windows are also easier to clean than patio windows make with other types of materials. The windows may be easy to clean but a certain process should be used to make sure they are not damaged.

How to Clean Vinyl Patio Windows

Materials Needed

  • Bucket

  • Warm water

  • Mild dish detergent

  • Sponge

  • Clean cloths

  • Newspaper

  1. Take a bucket and fill it with warm water. Add 1 tablespoon of mild dish detergent to the bucket.  This cleaning solution will loosen and help remove the dirt from the patio window.

  2. Fill a second bucket with clean warm water to rinse the windows. Place a sponge in the water to use for rinsing. Make sure you do not use any steel pads or wire brushes to clean the windows because this will damage them.

  3. Remove the lock from the window and push it towards the ceiling. You can unlock it by pressing on the tabs. You will be able to clean both sides without going outside.

  4. Dip a sponge into the cleaning solution and clean the top of the windows with it. Change to the clean water and rinse the window.

  5. Use a dry cloth to wipe some of the liquid from the window. Crumple up newspaper and wipe the windows to a shine.

  6. Replace the windows back into the slots so you can clean the other side. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to clean the other side of the window.

  7. Look over the window to check for steaks. If there are streaks, wet a sponge with clean water and go over the streaks. Use newspaper to dry the window.
