How to Clean Propane Torch Tips
Propane torches can often become dirty due to the buildup of flux which builds on the tips overtime. If a propane torch tips becomes dirty, it will cause the torch to sputter and flicker or not light at all. This problem can easily be solved by cleaning the tip of the propane torch. Cleaning a propane torch tip is a quick and easy process.
Supply List
- Hand towel
- Small sauce pan
- Water
- Slotted metal spoon
- Wire brush
- Remove the tip from the propane torch by tuning the tip in a counterclockwise motion to unscrew the tip from the propane torch, and then gently pull the tip up and off of the torch.
- Take out a small sauce pan and fill it with water until it is approximately half-way-full of water.
- Turn one of the burners on the stove to "high" and place the pot of water onto the burner.
- Allow the water in the sauce pan to come to a boil.
- Place the propane tip that is being cleaned into the pot of boiling water.
- Reduce the heat to "medium" and allow the tip to boil for 10-15 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and remove the sauce pan from the heat source.
- Use a slotted metal spoon to remove the tip from the boiling water carefully.
- Lay the tips onto a clean hand towel and allow them to cool for about 5 minutes.
- Dry the tip with the hand towel and shake it out to ensure that all of the water has been removed from the inside of the tip.
- Use a small wire brush to gently remove any loosened debris that still remains on the propane torch tip.
- Allow the tip to dry thoroughly and then reattach the tip to the propane torch by turning it in a clockwise motion until it is securely attached.
- Turn on the propane torch to ensure that it is now working correctly. It should not be sputtering after being cleaned.
