How to Clean Patio and Deck Heaters

A patio and deck heater is the perfect to fight off the chill when you want to sit outside during the cooler months. There are many varieties of the heaters, which include chiminea, wood burning fire pit and freestanding propane heaters. No matter which patio and deck heater you purchase, they will need cleaning to expand their lifespan. The cleaning method you use depends on the type of heater you have.

Chiminea


 1. Make sure the heater is completely cool.


 2. Move the heater to an area where it can be cleaned. Empty the ashes from the heater.


 3. Spray the inside of the heater with a garden hose. Use a stiff brush to remove any soot. Rinse the heater again.


 4. Allow the heater to dry and replace it in its original area.


 Fire Pit


 1. Remove any ashes and soot from the fire pit.


 2. Use a garden hose to clean the flame screen.


 3. Scrub the sides and inside of the fire pit with a stiff brush. Rinse the fire pit a second time.


 4. Allow the fire pit to dry.


 Propane Heaters


 1. Turn off the gas supply.


 2. Make sure the heater is cool.


 3. Use a damp cloth to clean the inside and outside of the propane heater. Allow the heater to dry.
