How to Clean Kitchen Tile
When you clean kitchen tile floors you can use plain hot water if they are not very dirty. If the floor has a lot of dirt or wax build up you will need to use something a little stronger to get the floor clean. You will need a mop, bucket, and cleaner to get your floors clean like new again.
- Sweep the kitchen tile floors first before you start cleaning them. Make sure all loose dirt is removed from the floor.
- Purchase a mop made from coiled yarn or cloth strips. If the tiles in your kitchen sit above the grout line, using a Swiffer or sponge mop will not work as well.
- Fill a bucket full of hot water if your floor just needs a basic cleaning. If your floor has a lot of wax or dirt build up, put some alcohol or other tile floor cleaner into the water. Mop the floor using the mop. Be sure to rinse the mop out as you go. If the water gets too dirty before you finish, dump the water out and refill the bucket with fresh water and cleaner.
- Use the floor cleaner directly on the floor if you have a stain you cannot remove. Spot treat the stain using an old toothbrush or a sponge.
- Mop your floor one more time using plain hot water to rinse away any cleaner left on the floor. Leaving cleaner on the floor can stain or even eat away at the tile. Allow the floor to air dry before anyone walks on it.
- Use a professional grout cleaner if your floor still does not look clean, and if the grout is black.
