How to Clean Bathroom Wall Tiles

High humidity and moisture that is present in bathrooms allow mold and mildew to grow on bathroom wall tiles. Also, they often end up with buildup from hard water and soap residue. The grout between these tiles also collects buildup and develops stains. Cleaning these tiles can be quite simple if you take advantages of these tips.

You will need:

  • Multi-surface kitchen and bathroom cleaner

  • Sponge

  • Scrub brush

  • Water

  • Oxygen or chlorine bleach

  • Gloves

  • Soft towel or rag

  • Spray bottle

  • Ammonia

  • Vinegar

  • Baking soda

  • Soap-scum remover

  1. Open windows and doors and turn on the exhaust fan to keep the bathroom well ventilated while you are cleaning it.

  2. Spray the bathroom wall tiles with kitchen and bathroom cleaner. This type of cleaner has an all-in-one cleaning attribute that makes it perfect for this chore.

  3. Use a sponge or scrub brush in soft circular motions to wipe the wall tiles. Be sure to wear rubber gloves so that you do not dry out your skin and to avoid any adverse skin reactions.

  4. Use warm water and a clean sponge to rinse the cleaner from the walls.

  5. Mix equal parts bleach and warm water in a spray bottle. Spray any areas that have mold or mildew on them. Bleach emits a toxic gas, so use extreme caution when working with it.

  6. Use a scrub brush in a circular motion to scrub these areas.

  7. Rinse off the walls using hot water.

  8. To remove buildup from grout, mix 1/4 cup of vinegar, 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1/3 cup of ammonia, and 7 cups of water in a spray bottle.

  9. Spray this solution directly on the grout.

  10. Use a scrub brush to remove the buildup and then rinse the tiles using warm water.

  11. Spray soap-scum remover on the wall's tiles and grout. For heavy buildups, you may need a soap-scum remover that contains lemon oil, white vinegar, alcohol or lactic acid.

  12. Scrub the tiles again using a sponge or scrub brush and then rinse with warm water.

  13. Wipe the walls using a soft rag or towel. This will remove any dirt that was left behind and also prevent water spots on the freshly cleaned tile.
