How to Build Martial Arts Training Equipment

There are a large variety of martial arts forms that exist and that are available for you to learn and practice. From the most popular form of karate to jiu jitsu and kung fu, there are plenty variations to choose from. When teaching yourself at home, it is helpful to have the right equipment on hand, even if you have to make it on your own.


 


  • Create a piece of equipment that helps you harden your hands and knuckles for training. Simply fill a bucket with raw beans so that you are able to grind your hands into the bucket in preparation. This helps create callouses, which are helpful in training.

  • Anchor a large, old tire to the ground in your backyard or in your home gym. You will use a sledgehammer to repeatedly hit the tire so that the resistance helps you build up the strength in your shoulders and arms. This is essential when practicing martial arts, because it enables you to have more power behind your punch.

  • Put together a makeshift punching bag with material that is made out of cloth and filled with sand, but make sure that it is strong enough to handle the pressure that you put to it when punching the bag.

  • Hang a rubber ball with an attached string from the ceiling. This is an ideal piece of training equipment that provides you with the ability to work on your quick movements and agility techniques.

  • Pour water into an exercise ball and use it as a piece of training equipment to worth on your gripping techniques. Since this size ball is difficult to grip when it is consumed with water, it is ideal.
