How To Get a Diamond Ring to Shine More

Bling, bling! There isn't anything like getting a gorgeous diamond as a gift, either from a loved one or from you to you! When all else that is material fails, diamonds truly do last forever. Friends go, families go, even that faithful dog will eventually leave this earth. But when it comes down to it, your diamond will be there to give you the shine you desire. Now let's keep that shine for as long as possible.

  1. Brush your diamond. Grab some toothpaste, colored toothpaste if possible, and an old, soft bristled toothbrush. Squirt a little bit of toothpaste onto the toothbrush and gently scrub your diamond.

  2. Mix up a cleaning solution. Combine 3 drops of dish detergent, 5 oz. of lukewarm water and 1 tsp. of ammonia. Make sure the solution is somewhat foamy.

  3. Place your ring inside the solution and let the ring sit for one hour.

  4. Take the ring out and use the clean toothbrush (no toothpaste this time) to clean it again.

  5. Take an old soft cloth to gingerly dry the diamond to rid it of any hideous water spots.

  6. Do not use any abrasive materials when cleaning your diamond. That might leave it damaged and very difficult to repair (not to mention very expensive).
