Drain Repair and Replacement

Drainage is an important aspect of any home or business. The plumbing in a building depends mainly on the drainage system working the way it should at all times. When it is time to repair or replace a drainage system there are things to consider before going ahead with the project.

A drain carries gray water and waste from a point of access out of the building and into the sewer or a septic tank. The point of access or the piped stemming from a drain could be broken or run down. This repair is greater than a blockage because a plumber needs to crawl underneath the building in order to fix a hole in a pipe or correct a joint malfunction.

The entire system of pipes underneath a building may be outdated and in need of replacement. A plumber can be called to do this and should be. The different materials of piping available on the market today can be a decision to consider before handing over money for materials that are not within budget or unavailable in certain areas.

Leaks are common in most building and can be fixed easily. This is a quick repair that can, in most cases, be done with ease. The need to replace a leaky pipe arises when the material of the pipe is not up to code. Oxidation is a great problem with certain materials of piping. Old cast-iron pipes that have rusted over the years should be replaced with newer materials. PVC and copper are common materials used by plumbers to repair or replace piping under a building or home.

Replacing or repairing the drain fitting is easy and can be done by the owner of the building or home. A little caulk and a drain cover might be used in this instance depending on the type of drain it is. With a septic tank the drainage problem may be worse than just fixing a broken pipe. The need to empty a septic tank because of drainage problems will arise with this type of drainage system.

It doesn't matter if the drainage system employs a sewer or a septic tank, the need to repair or replace will be an inevitable when the proper care is not provided.
