Traditional Hotels

Spain offers hotels. These can be found relatively inexpensive as long as the hotel is no higher than a 3-star rating. They offer private baths, linens, towels, daily maid service, hot water, and front desk at no extra charge. This is most suitable for those that are coming from the United States and want something similar to what they would find at home.

Hostels

Hostels are not very popular in the United States, but in Spain and other countries they are and also a great way to save money on lodging. You can expect shared bathrooms, bunk beds, with linens and towels normally offered at an additional fee. They are cheap options for those traveling on a tight budget. Some hostels offer semi-private or totally private rooms, but at an additional cost.

The Pension

The most inexpensive lodging in Spain is the pension. Typically, this is an apartment building that rents out rooms to travelers. Some pensions have quad rooms available depending on how many are in your party. You have an option for shared or private baths with the shared being less expensive. Linens are normally provided and some of the pensions even offer coffee in the morning to guests. These normally have curfews, which means if you are not back in the building by a specified time, you may be locked out for the night.

Eating Cheap in Spain

Be on the lookout for a fixed price menu restaurants, which are called menu del dia. This includes your meal, salad, appetizer, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. It is a good deal and can save you quite a bit of money on eating when in Spain.
