About Fashion Photography Lighting
Fashion photography is all about getting the right light at the right moment. There is a wide variety of fashion lighting for different types of photo shoots. Since this kind of photography can be considered an art, some of the lighting can be abstract to dim.
White Balance Lighting
This type of lighting is great for the focus of the person in the photograph. You will need to use a white object to balance the lighting in the room. This white object will reflect on the backdrop behind the person and give them a soft glow against the lens. White balance is usually intended for the most realistic looking photographs without the use of digital imaging and Photoshop.
Natural Lighting
Lighting without any artificial filler is the most difficult when working with fashion photography. The sun will need to be out to capture a great shot, otherwise the focus will be much too dark. Using camera reflectors are especially handy with natural lighting since it can create a soft glow in the surrounding area without losing focus. Images taken with natural lighting can be digitally altered if they come out too dark.
Artificial Lighting
The use of back lighting can diminish any shadows that interfere with the photograph. This is done indoors and can also use reflectors and spotlights to make the image appear brighter than it would be in a natural setting. Many famous fashion photographers use this kind of lighting such magazines like Elle, Vogue, and Glamour.
