About Community Health Education
Community health focuses on a wide variety of issues. The program was designed to help educate and help people within a community with certain issues. Individuals are taught how to live, eat and be more healthy in their every day living.
Obesity
Obesity is one of the biggest concerns in most communities. Community health programs can help educate the population about nutrition and the proper exercise. The program helps individuals of all ages as well as those with different types of disease. People within the community are given the appropriate tools needed to make healthier choices in their life.
Sexual Health
Individuals are educated about the different types of sexual diseases that affect the community. People are taught about prevention and how to properly take care of themselves after being exposed to the disease. Most people do not know that diseases or viruses can exist without having any type of symptoms. Community health educators talk to people about getting tested even if they do not have symptoms.
Diseases
A main focus within community health is talking to people about the spread of different types of diseases. Individuals are taught about the spread of infectious diseases such as the flu, H1N1, sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS and how to protect themselves from transmitting the virus once they have it. Different times of the year health education in the community will vary.
Environmental Health
Community health also focuses on the health of the environment. People are taught about pollution, radon, waste and keeping their environment healthy. The more information community health leaders put out about pollutions the better they can help save the environment. Many people are allergic to different materials in the environment and can be taught about these allergens through community health educators.
