Wilson is part of Mississippi County in Arkansas. The town was named after Robert E. Lee Wilson, a landowner and logging business owner. In 1900, a prehistoric mastodon skeleton was discovered near Wilson. Agriculture is the major industry, especially cotton and timber. One of the best places to visit when you are in Wilson is the Hampson Museum State Park, which features artifacts from an ancient aboriginal village discovered near Wilson.

I think it is Disgraceful that no one in Arkansas has written a review about the great Hampson Museum and State Park at Wilson Arkansas. I have taken the tour many times, brought many families to the Museum, and they were extremely pleased. I have bought several Hundred Dollars of products from the Museum. I will buy more products in November I cannot buy them now because they have sold out, and have to restock. All the staff is knowledgeable about the artifacts on display and is very helpful when explaining your questions. I am thankful the Museum is there and I am able to enjoy it, too bad the people in Arkansas Choose to ignore such a great Museum, it is their loss. ...read more

I went with my 6th grade G.T. class to Hampson Museum State Park in Memphis,TN. It was great!!!! We learned all about the indians that lived in our area!! I've never learned more in my life, besides in books and on the computer. It was great!!! This is a great place to stop get you a hot-cooked meal and eat in or to go... also buy groceries, also it is right off the interstate....there is no stores or other restruants within 6 miles....and they are real helpful for people getting lost or needing directions to the nearest gas station....and the friendliest onwer around! ...read more
