About Mena, AR
Mena, founded by Aurthur Edward Stillwell and named after his biggest investors wife, Mena Janssen de Goeijen, is located in Polk County, Arkansas. In April of 2009, the city was hit by a high end EF-3 tornado that caused at least $25 million worth of damage. Mena was once home to the Commonwealth College which is known for its ties to socialism. Originally, the city's economy was centered around farming. A large part of the city's economy today is still based in agriculture including timber, cattle and other kinds of livestock. Among the biggest companies in Mena are Brodix, Inc and Tyson Foods. Students living in Mena attend the Polk County School District. Famous people with tie to the city include country singer T. Texas Tyler and comedian Norris "Tuffy" Goff.
