About Scottsboro, AL
Scottsboro, located in and the county seat of Jackson County, is part of the Huntsville-Decatur metro area of Alabama. The city was named after Robert Scott, the founder of Scottsboro. The city is most famous for being the place where the Scottsboro Boys were held for trial. The United States Supreme Court case was against nine black youths who were accused of raping two white women. Major attractions in Scottsboro include the Payne Soda Shop which has been in business since 1869 and King Caldwell Park which is home to the city's annual Art's Festival. Because of Lake Guntersville and The Goose Pond, the city has seen a rise in residential development. The Scottsboro Daily Sentinel is the city's main newspaper.
