About Atmore, AL
Atmore is part of the Escambia County area of Alabama and was first recorded as a stop on the Great Northern Railroad. The city was named after the railroad engineer, C.P. Atmore and every year they hold an Arts and Crafts Festival to honor him. The largest employer in Atmore is the Swift Supply Lumber Company. The biggest schools here are Escambia County High and Escambia Academy. One of the best places to visit when you are in Atmore is the Wind Creek Casino. Famous persons from Atmore include four-time World Heavyweight boxing champion, Evander Holyfield, the original Marlboro Man, Paul Birch, and NFL player Don Mcneal.
