I should have walked
First, I reserved online 2 months in advance. Their website says they will send a confirmation email, which was never sent or received. I sent an online question regarding this via their online submit form (they provide no direct email), to which I received no respons...e. When I called 2 weeks later, the disinterested woman on the phone said usually customers will just call the day before to confirm. It took 2-3 calls to get a confirmation faxed.\t\n\t\nThe morning we arrived, they were 45 minutes late while we sat in the 95 degrees sun inhaling bus exhaust. The van was old, had clear external evidence of having been involved in a wreck, and felt unstable/malaligned. It smelled of BO. The driver drove like a new york cabbie on crack, swerving in and out of traffic and consistently driving 20-30 mph over the speed limit. My wife was uncomfortable the entire trip.\t\n\t\nFor our return, the driver was 15 minutes early (which was fine). But, when he pulled up, he was smoking unfiltered cigarettes in the bus. For the entire return trip, we breathed recirculated dense second-hand smoke (was more dense than in any bar or casino I've ever been in). There were no windows able to be opened to get fresh air.\t\n\t\nHorrible experience.
Absolutely terrible. Never, ever again.
Buyer Beware indeed. Although the only other option is Greyhound, at least the Hound is reliable and can hire folks with some level of customer service to man their telephones. They fouled up my reservation. I had a print out of the date/time and they incorrectly ...booked me for the following day. As I was traveling with someone was was handicapped, this was important to make sure that things went smoothly. They didn't and KEYS SHUTTLE nearly left me stranded at FLL. They offered no apology for their mistake and the woman who fields calls for their toll-free number should be fired for her complete inability to fix problems (of their causing). DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. It's unreliable, unprofessional and I will never use them again.
Beware almost missed flight
Made reservation in ADVANCE; waited over an hour for the shuttle; woman on phone was no help; stated the driver was already on the 18 mile Stretch and wouldn't turn around; said I wasn't there. They NEVER showed up and I waited outside the entire time without a bathroom... break! I insisted they refund my card $80; but what did they do? THEY DOUBLE CHARGED ME NOW!! These people have no clue about communication or more importantly transportation service! I would've missed my flight if it wasn't delayed trying to find an alternate transportation method. Do NOT trust this shuttle service.
Keys Shuttle
I was certainly surprised at the review I read on the Keys Shuttle. I have had a good experience with this service for the past 6 years. No driver has ever been rude to me. I was always been picked up at the time promised and always made my flights.
Should Have Rented A Car
Our driver, Joe, was the scary kind of unstable. Our reservation was at 7:30am and he called at 6:42am to let me know we had to be ready by 7:00am, then called continuously until we came downstairs at 7am on the dot. Then he either could not or would not lift our suitc...ases into the van, and I had to do it alone.\t\n\t\nThere was a clerical error with our reservation which lead him to believe we had only paid for one ticket. He screamed at my mother when she tried to protest this, even though she had the confirmation in her hand proving that we had both paid. (Please keep in mind, this was outside in the middle of a quiet key west neighborhood) We had, in fact, paid $150 for the two of us through Miami 411. He wanted to charge us another $10 for the extra person, since he thought only one of us had paid. We said we would, but called Miami 411 at the one rest stop he made. They confirmed we were correct and would contact his dispatcher to correct the error. In the meantime, he got in my 50-year-old mother's face, leaning over the seat in front of us, SCREAMING at her to ""get out!"" and ""I don't like your attitude"" and various obscenities. When I tried to cut in to show him the confirmation - very politely, as I have worked in hospitality for the past five year - he screamed ""SHUT UP"" multiple times in my face. \t\n\t\nWhen his dispatcher called him to fix the error, he did not even apologize.\t\n\t\nMight I add his driving was awful and his mannerisms in general were terrible. \t\n\t\nThis is a very short version of what happened, it was one of the worst - and honestly frightening - experiences of my life. I was ready to call the police multiple times. Absolutely awful.
