Updates & tips from Island Paradise Balloon Art - Storytelling

Strange Happening during Old City Jail Tour

Something really creepy happened during one of my recent tours at Charleston's old city jail.  During the tour, I shut a door to one of the cell blocks, so folks could get up the stairs.  I couldn't re-open the door... even with help.  I warned the guide with the next tour that she wouldn't be able to get into that room.  On her tour, the door was still stuck, but a couple of big, burly guys on her tour managed to open it.  When they went into the room, it was so cold, you could see your breath.  We're talking about a night that was hotter than Hades, and there is NO air conditioning in that part of the building... no vents, no unit, no nothing.  Strange stuff happens at the jail alot... that's why there are some guides who won't do that particular tour.  More info on the jail at my website, www.IslandParadiseBalloonArt.com.

Here's what people are saying about Island Paradise Balloon Art - Storytelling - Walking Tours!

"Thank you for being part of the 20th Annual Children's Day Festival this year... As always you and Bob were a great hit at the event and enjoyed by hundreds of children."  Su McManus-Frost, Event Coordinator, Town of Mt. Pleasant

"When Eric Lavender walks into the room all activities cease, and the attention is totally focused toward the dreadlocks, the swashbuckling outfit and the parrot.  His stories of life on the Carolina cost as a pirate come alive and his audience is mesmerized.  Eric presented a program for the Edgar ALlan Poe library and we are still talking about it.  His attention to detail, his life-like appearance and his ability to tell stories are all part of his alter ego.  The magic comes alive.  He is truly a wonderful teller of stories."  Jeri England, Manager, Edgar Allan Poe Library, Sullivan's Island

The Best Ghost Walk I've Ever Been On!!!  Our guide's name was Eric, and he was fantastic!  Very knowlegeable about the history of the area, and very entertaining.  He told great ghost stories, and answered every question we had.  I have been on many ghost walks, in Gettyshurg, Savannah, etc., and this one ranks int he top 3.  We didn't want it to end!!!!"  Hilda Nichols, Tennessee

"The best part of the tour was listening to our guide.  He was very, very talented.  You could close your eyes and feel like you're back in history in the 1700s and 1800s... Loved our guide... Bottom line best evening entertainment... See for yourself."  Elena, Bucharest, Romania

"We want to thank you for coming to Royce's party and making it very special.  The parents of the children attending were very impressed on how professional you were with the kids... We loved all that you did and look forward to working with you again in the future."  The Pieper's, Summerville, SC

What a fun tour!

I took my son and two of his friends on the ghost walk, at their request. I was so impressed by our "Pirate Lady." She kept everyones attention the whole time. The boys talked about it all the way home. They were amused by the stories she told and the way she spoke ...in Gullah. If you are looking for an affordable and interesting experience in Downtown Charleston, SC. This is it. Thanks for a fun time!
