USTA to Build $60M Complex in Lake Nona
A new state-of-the-art tennis training facility, named USTA National Campus, the New Home of American Tennis, is coming to Lake Nona. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new 63-acre complex took place in southeast Orlando only a few days ago. This officially marked the start of construction of the $60 million facility which will be built between Nautica Drive and James Bay drive in Lake Nona.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs joined executives from Lake Nona parent company Tavistock Group and United States Tennis Association to celebrate the start of the construction of the new USTA regional training center which will feature more than 100 tennis courts, including red and green clay courts, hard courts, and youth tennis courts, as well as offices and a lodge for players to stay while in training.
That lodge will feature a new $3 million Crystal Lagoon, an 11-acre man-made recreational lake with crystal clear waters and a Caribbean-style beachfront, all designed by Miami-based Crystal Lagoons US Corp.
The new complex, slated for a late 2016 opening, will house the USTA’s two divisions: Player Development division, moving from Boca Raton, and Community Tennis division, relocating from White Plains, N.Y. In addition, it will be home court for the varsity tennis teams at the University of Central Florida.
Tavistock Development Company is the project developer, DPR Construction is the general contractor and HKS Architects is the lead architect.
The project is expected to bring hundreds of temporary construction jobs, as well as 155 permanent high-wage positions with an average annual salary of $100,000.
Along with the jobs it will create in the region, the new complex is also slated to bring a bigger boost to the local tourism industry, which welcomed 59 million visitors last year.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Get New Name
It looks like Disney is planning to give its Hollywood Studios theme park a new name. During the company’s annual shareholders meeting, held only two weeks ago in San Francisco, a young guest, a six-year-old child in the audience, asked Walt Disney Co. chairman CEO Bob Iger if Disney’s Hollywood Studios would be renamed. Iger confirmed that there would be a name change; however he caught himself when realizing the plans had yet to be announced and before sharing other details. He said only that the theme park inOrlando is currently getting significant improvements, which would be followed by a rebranding when the updates are complete. There is no further information on what the new name will be and when the change would happen.
It would be the second name change for Disney Hollywood Studios in the park’s history. It was originally called Disney MGM Studios when it opened in 1989. Later in 2008, the name changed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The theme park underwent some major changes in the past few months. Disney closed a number of attractions to make way for new ones; many others got expansion in order to attract more tourists. The Studio Backlot Tour and American Idol Experience have both closed recently. The theme park also removed the iconic Mickey’s Sorcerer’s hat and, according to some rumors, it could be readying a new centerpiece. Great Movie Ride is undergoing some improvements and Toy Story Midway Mania is getting a third track.
New rides or expanded attractions, Disney aims by all means to suit all tastes and ages and it would strengthen Orlando’s position of top leisure destination.

GREAT service!
Our first experience with Interplex was Fantastic! Samuel met us at the airport, was very friendly and professional, prompt and reliable. We had a "suprise" destination for our group and he was very helpful keeping it a suprise! In total, they transported our group t...o Disney Dolphin, to the Cruiseport and back to airport, to Downtown Disney, then back to airport on 4 seperate days. They were great! The rates were reasonable and the drivers were courteous. We cannot thank them enough! Samuel was our driver twice, and we absolutely loved him! We will use Interplex again!
Many Compliments
Traveling around busy Central Florida has never been easy for me. I drive to that area twice a year for business. This time my company hired a private shuttle. They are Interplex. They were listed as www.interplex.net. Made my business trip easier and pleasant. They are... a good company with shuttle driving you from location to location. I recommend them. The chauffeur was very friendly and professional too.
Thumbs up for InterPlex
During February '09 we took our family of 9 on a Disney Land/Sea vacation. The price for transportation between the various locations as offered on the Disney site seemed really high. We requested the names of companies listed with Better Business Bureau that could pr...ovide this service and subsequently booked with InterPlex Transportation. The people we worked with both over the phone and online were very accomodating. Our driver was on time and was very freindly and informative. In fact on the leg from the cruise line to the airport, he was able to accomodate a time change at virtually the last minute. The equipment was very clean and in excellent shape. Our charge card was not billed until after the entire trip was complete. We would absolutely use them again.
Outstanding service and very clean cars.
Courteous staff, reasonable rates, very clean cars, our customers always praise the service Interplex provides them.
OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!!
I wanted to write to you to commend your outstanding level of service, and the service provided to us by your driver Steve, truly a professional. Steve took our son, round trip to the University of Florida in Gainesville for an interview for Medical School. It was ...most convenient to have him transported due to our busy schedules. The accommodation that your company made in assuring that Gregory would arrive on time, and then to be there for him when he finished his day, could not have given parents more peace of mind. We thank you ever so much for the wonderful communication, professional manner in which the entire transaction was conducted from emails to receipts. We would be most happy to use your service again and will assuredly recommend Interplex Transportation to friends and family. With thanks and appreciation, Denise
