Make a Perfect Hire with These Tips!
Your new hires will change everything. Get the right person onboard and you can boost morale, productivity and team work. Hire the wrong person and job satisfaction can plummet, productivity may diminish and at worst you can put your other employees at risk. New hires are important! Make great ones using the tips below.
1. Be Patient
The temptation is to zoom your way through a hiring process. From start to finish it puts more stress and work on other employees while taking up your valuable time. But think of it as a crucial part of keeping your time protected in the future. Do it right the first time and turnover will be much lower.
2. Don't Skip Background Checks
The urgency can take over at times and make you want to skip processes like background checks. After all, when you meet a candidate in person it increases your trust of them. But this is perhaps the most crucial step! Avoid hiring someone that isn't qualified or that can present a threat to your office by running a background check.
3. Ask Good Questions
Questions can make or break the interview. Too vague of questions will give you boring and Google searchable answers. Too specific and you may not understand the candidate's full potential. Throw in a good mix of questions that will give you insight into the candidate's qualifications and character. You can always ask your current employees what their dream coworker would look like on paper.
We hope these tips helped you in your hiring process. Remember to take your time and screen your candidates. This will ensure you're set up well to make the best hires! Good luck.
