AB2482 (RID) Pulled Off
The AB2482 “Registered Interior Designer” (RID) has been pulled off the agenda for today’s hearing. It is dead for now. CLCID’s Legislative Watch will continue to monitor the situation since the resurrection of AB2482 (RID) may still be possible NOW. Congratulations to all of you who worked so hard responding to our call of actions. Your opposition resonated through the halls of the Capitol, you made a difference.
Your involvement helped stop AB2482 early in the process, saving time and thousands of dollars of the organizations’ revenue opposing the bill; ultimately saving taxpayer’s over a million dollars to implement such a Bill. Today, your stance has helped many interior design professionals, students, educators and businesses feel relieved from the worries of what was going to happen if AB2482 (RID) had passed. Thank you!
This shows we can come together as a unified VOICE and also demonstrates the importance of LEGISLATION in our community; everyone has a part in it. Let’s not forget how we came together on AB2482 (RID) protecting our rights and continue to support CLCID on other domestic issues affecting our interior design community. CLCID will continue, through DirectLink, to keep you informed about issues that are important to our members and their practices. To receive the monthly DirectLink, Please click here
We would like to acknowledge:

DirectLink - March 2012
Dear CLCID Members,
A “Call to Action” will be sent to you soon in support to oppose AB 2482 Bill.
Since AB2482 was introduced I've talked to many board officers from organizations, interior designers, educators and students in the interior design and building industry opposing AB 2482. I’ve found their dedication commendable, many of them compromising, their business relations or even employment with the proponents of AB2482 because they have taken a stance against AB2482. They care about the future for the Interior Design community and so should you.
The AB2482 Bill does not offer an equal opportunity to All to improve in the interior design profession. A similar Bill was introduced in 2008 by the same proponents “SB1312” and it failed to pass because it was unfair to All in the interior design profession and would have eliminated the interior design community college programs. It failed then because you came forward as a unified voice and wrote letters opposing the Bill. Our “Call to Action” will again ask you to write letters to the “Business, Profession&Consumer Protection” committee members.
When you consider over 27 organizations in the interior design community opposing AB2482 you know it’s wrong. CLCID has set up meetings through California to talk about AB2482 and we encourage you to make every effort to attend. These meetings are open to everyone opposing AB2482.
I’d like to acknowledge CLCID’s BOD’s, IDPC Patti Morrow, Ed Nagorsky, NKBA Council, IDS, IFDA North and others… for fighting to protect Your rights here in California.
Thank you,
James Vallejo, President
