Delicious food and a warm atmosphere at reasonable price
I've been living in the New City area for roughly 20 years now, and I love to eat. In my experience Agnello's continuously delivers quality food at a reasonable price, and the staff is second to none. If you've never been before keep it simple and try a traditonal... Margherita (not the beverage!) or just about anything in the home made vodka sauce and you won't be dissapointed. The ingredients are all fresh and just about everything his homemade which really makes for an enjoyable family dining experience. Diane and Steve Agnello are always happy to meet new customers, and the waitstaff has been attentive and very friendly in my time at the restaraunt as well. Oh, and if you have any room left whatsoever make sure you ask about the homemade desert of the day, or grab a cannoli! All in all a very enjoyable experience, and its right in New City so I don't even have to hear the "are we there yet" routine, which is always a huge plus! And yes, the Pizza really is that good
We travel from far for this place....
twice a year we travel from Holland to New York. Of course we can get a decent slice of pizza here and if we fly for 2 hours we can actually have one in Italy. BUT, when we are in New York, we gladly take the half hour drive from Westchester County to this great place.... We never had such a good pizza ANYWHERE. It's being made right in front of you and you can see this is the most honest product you can get. Fresh Mozzarella cheese and a one of a kind - probably highly secret - tomatosauce! The staff is friendly and you're never without a drink. The only thing (but that won't cost them a star in this review), is that it's a little loud once the place fills up. Some bad acoustics going on there and you really have to shout to eachother to keep the conversation going. This pizza is SO good that I will ask my friend from Yonkers to pick up a couple of pizza's and bring them over to Holland! I will be there again next year - see you then!
As Good As It Gets
On Sunday afternoon we decided to find this place and give it a try. I must say that the pizza is not cheap but it was a real treat. The atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing, the server was congenial and welcoming and the pizza was amazing. This is the not the pi...zza that you eat for quantity, it is quality. I saw something called Tuscan Egglplant and Zucchini which I must try the next time I stop in.
Where is it? How come I never heard of a brick oven in New City?
Where is this place? How come I have no idea where it is or how long they have been there? Do they advertise anywhere? Do they offfer discount coupons to encourage people to try them? Where exactly is this place in New City? Are the owners related to Victoria Gotti's ex?
a great family place
This is definitely some of the best pizza in Rockland. It's thin, with the perfect balance between chewiness and crispness. The fresh-from-the-oven pies with homemade mozzarella seem so much lighter and healthier than most pizza. The entrees are good too, particularl...y the vodka sauce, meatballs, and eggplant dishes. They are large, though, so sharing is a good idea. With very reasonable prices, this place is perfect for splitting a pie as a quick lunch or for a casual but upscale evening out.
