what happens in vegas? burglary on the 38th floor!!!!

My husband and I were in vegas over the weekend for my brother's wedding. While we were out, our room was burglarized. Although there was no sign of any forced entry, my wedding ring, macbook pro, gold hoop earrings, perfume, cologne, and a small travel bag was stolen from the room. The theief also took the laptop charger, but left everything else in the room including a wrapped wedding gift and credit cards.

We notified the front desk and security about the incident. After a long wait, security finally arrived and asked me to write down the value of all the items taken from the room and a detailed statement.

Security and front desk were not very helpful or supportive. They insisted that things like this happen all the time and that many times guests would leave their doors unlocked (intentionally or unintentionally) or that guests invite strangers into their rooms who end up stealing from them.

Security also informed us that there are no security cameras on the guest floors only in the lobby floor, casino, and elevators, but they walk through the guest floors every 1 to 2 hours and they push guest rooms doors to insure they are locked. If the door is unlocked, they enter the room to see if everything is alright.

Surprisingly, even before the investigation has started, RISK MANAGEMENT already told me that the hotel is not liable for any theft, loss, or damage of any property brought by a guest upon the hotel. They also failed to mention previous burglary that have occurred a few weeks prior to our check in.

I believe guests have a right to be informed of previous burglaries in order to take extra precaution for our belongings and safety. Mandalay Bay prides themselves with sophistication and service, but we were never-- not once offered anytype of accomodation for our misfortune or anytype of apology or sympathy from the front desk staff or security. All they can say is that bad things happen that are beyond their control.

Front desk did not even tell us that they have a in house safe or that they are not reliable for any theft that occurrs on the property nor did we see any visible sign that can be easily read and placed in a conspicuous area.

I have stayed at less luxurious hotels such as circus circus in las vegas and ohana west in honolulu, and I never felt safer. There are guards making sure you are a guest in the hotel, always asking questions, and you need your card key to access the elevator.

If you ever plan a trip to vegas, read all the reviews and remember that you cannot rely on hotel staff for anything. TheHotel does not care about your safety or your concerns. Insure your valuables, backup your files, precious photos, and videos, download a tracking app for your macbook, and try not to look rich at all costs! You never know who will be watching and following you around! TheHotel does not have anyway of knowing who entered your room other than reviewing the door logs.

The doors themselves do not signal security that it has been left open. Only Wynn, Tropicana, Mandalay Bay Resort have TimeLox AM with ZigBee that can report doors left open to security.

Customer Service/Risk Mgmt - Terrible

We stayed at TheHotel and checked out on Nov 22/10 at 6 am due to an early flight. In my tiredness I left behind all my shopping in one big bag. I called the next day to have it shipped and it took a month, the bag arrived with most of the stuff missing. They said a report was filed but Risk Mgmt won't return my calls - even the managers don't return calls. The one time I got through I was basically told they didn't believe me and there was nothing they could/would do. Do not risk staying here. The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced.

Good customer service and comfortable rooms

7 of my friends and I this past weekend went to Las Vegas (it was my first time). We knew we wanted to stay at a hotel that was aimed toward our generation (early to mid 20s). The palms and hardrock were very expensive (it was labor day weekend FYI). For 3 nights, it came out to an average of 309 a night per room, which I think its quite inexpensive. We stayed in THEsuite with a living room and 2 bed bedroom. Very comfortable beds and bathrobe. Bathroom was VERY impressive with SUNKEN tub, stand up shower, separate toilet and huge sink area. The room was a 5/5 without a doubt. The only bad part is the hotel's entrance is underground which was alittle odd and THEHotel is so far from the pool, easily a 15 minute walk. Room service took on average about 40 minutes which was expected, but everything was still pipping hot when it came.

The best restaurant I ate in was in the little mall between the Mandalay Bay and the luxor called Burger Bar. Probably the best burgers ever so thats a place to stop and eat.

Next time I visit Vegas ill try to stay somewhere else not because I didnt like the Mandalay Bay but because I want to experience more of Las Vegas.
