About Nikko Judo Academy

Sense/Coach Adolfo Gutierrez is a former US Marine and Wyoming State Trooper. His 34 years of dedicated Judo practice and instruction, including two intensive years in Japan, has provided him with the martial arts skills to professionally train others.
Being the father of two young children and having been an elementary school teacher has provided him with the patience and softer skills needed to teach children.
Victor’s Nikko Judo Academy is proud, not only of our three Idaho State Judo Champions, but also of all our students including the 17 attending the upcoming State Championships in November.
We are very proud that our students’ grades in school and behavior at home seem to improve along with their increase in Judo discipline and skills!

Great teacher, great skills, great for the kids

Adolfo is a wonderful teacher, full of patience, knowledge, and encouragement. The experience has been wonderful for my 3/4 year old.

Dedication & passion

Coach Gutierrez' dedication to children and the sport of Judo is incredible. In years past, when I was a police detective and he was a Highway Patrolman, he assisted with translations in difficult Crimes Against Children cases. I have also know him through his bodyguarding work and have found him to be honest, genuine and very focused with his life's passion; JUDO!

His school is not a "belt-mill" where students advance quickly through different colored belts, each time paying the school for the test. (Some belt-mills promote students to black belt in just two years!) Nikko's school is rooted in Japanese tradition, and learning is the goal - not getting a new belt every couple months.
