Reviews about Neils Coffee Shop
Only for the hard core diner
Don't come to Neil's expecting anything other than what it is: a serious diner. The food is good but not spectacular; the service is efficient but not servile. Do come to Neil's if you want a classic New York experience, accompanied by some hot comfort food. The people-watching is well above par, the atmosphere is jovial and relaxed, and the waiting staff speak in their own uncrackable code when not conversing in a multitude of different languages. \t\n\t\nI eat here at least ocne a week, and particularly recommend the Neil's special wrap, the cheeseburger deluxe, the grilled chicken caesar salad, and the pancakes, any/all of which should be washed down with coffee, or perhaps a milkshake. I've never yet managed to leave sufficient room for dessert, but what's available always looks good.

Went to this place for breakfast because it came highly reccomended. The food was nothing spectacular at all...not that great not that awful. The service was absolutely ridiculous. I was there for breakfast for almost two hours. We were finished eating and the server (who I think was the owner) would never bring us our check. What was even worse was that he came by and said I'll be right with you numerous times. From the first time he said that when we were already ready to leave I'd say it was about 45 minutes before we actually got out of there. What a joke.

I have worked in the restaurant industry for 8 years, and I am aware when a restaurant needs a table, the proprietor might ask a customer who is finished with there meal for the table...but NOT when you have SIX TABLES AVAILABLE! That is the rudest thing! Yes I had finished my food, but I had barely been sitting for a half an hour...and was not taking up a big table or anything. The waitstaff is very sweet but the Owner is so rude...I can't believe he kicked me out...
