Not Your Typical Chain Restaurant

Legal may look like the Cheesecake Factory inside and out, but the food is a notch above typical chain fare. Fried whole belly clams were absolutely delicious, as good as anything you can find at any clam shack along the Atlantic coast. The lobster roll could hold it's own in Maine and daily fish selections are always a can't miss. Of course the clam chowder, ""served at the last 7 presidential inaugurations"", is a must.

If you have room for dessert, try one of the made on premises seasonal fruit pies.

Ok Seafood, skip the Chowder

Was in Boston for business and heard on of the things I had to get was the Seafood in Boston. Talked to some people and they said that Legal Seafood was the place to get for the best Seafood in Boston. To be perfectly blunt, if this was the Best Seafood In Boston, I hate to taste the worst.

It's not that this place was bad, but it was nothing special either. First I tried the Famous Boston Chowder that was severed to 7 or 8 Presidents. Well the Chowder had a distinct fish taste to the broth/cream. Not sure if I've been eating bad chowder all this time, but the part that should taste like fish shoud be the the clams and fish and not the soup. I also tried their local fish, the Boston Shod. Its cod but they call it shod for whatever the reason. The fish was done just right but the vegitables were very bland. Even the Garlic Broccoli I odered was just a head of Broccoli and just a little bit of garlic.

The prices are on the high side (around $10+ for appitizers & Salads & $23+ for most entrees) and the portions are on the small side. Overall I would rank this place as just average, I've been to far superior seafood resturants in Hawaii, Alaska, & San Francisco. It might be worth a stop to check out but I wouldn't wait longer than 15 minutes.

The best place for seafood

Leagal's is a chain but you would never know it from the quality or the atmosphere. This restaurant is nicer than the much more expensive upscale places in boston and the food is incredible. The clam chowder is probably the best in the wo...
