Our First and Last Visit

We arrived a few minutes early for our Anniversary dinner out. We did have reserbations. It was our first time to the Knotty Pine on the Bayou. \t\nWe were excited to go. We heard it was a bit pricey, however, was to be super good food, but, this was our anniversary and thought we should treat ourselves and have been wanting to go for some time.\t\nWe were seated. Our server was friendly. The place was hectic and it seemed to have little coordination.\t\nWe ordered drinks. They came and we ordered dinner. \t\nWe waited. And waited.\t\nThe server came past with an order for another table and just dropped off a second beer for my husband. She didn't bother to ask if I also would like another. She kept on going. Strike One!\t\nWe waited. She came by. Asked if my husband would like another beer, I guess it is assumed the man always pays the tip and should have special attention. That is not always the case. Strike two!\t\nShe did ask me if I would like another drink. It was more of an after thought. Strike Three! Now I am telling my husband to start deducting from the tip.\t\nShe kept calling me sweety! I don't know why waitresses, cashiers and hair dressers have to call you 'hon' or 'sweety'. it is very annoying.\t\nI finally was fed up with waiting for our food and being called 'Sweety" and let her know.\t\nOur meal dinally came. I ordered grilled shrimp. There were about 7 shrimp and a half full plate of red potatoes and collard greens..\t\nMy husband had the rib eye, half plate of red potatoes and beans. It wasn't the worst he has had, but has had many better ones. He said it was stringy and not as tender as it should/could have been.\t\nWill we go back? Probably not.\t\n

Great food and a great place!!

Went with a group of 8 friends for dinner on a Saturday night in December. The service was great! we were seated right on time for our reservation and served speedily and capably. We ate the range of the menu from filet mignon to etouffee to blackened grouper. Everything was excellent!! The dessert menu leaves a lot to be desired but, honestly, after the excellent meal of generous portions...who needed dessert? I was comparing the evening to "Heaven on Seven" a Chicago area Cajun restaurant I've tried a few times - Knotty Pine is my favorite - hands down!

My number 1 request for my birthday dinner!

I have loved going out to eat since I was a little girl. For this restaurant to be my hands down favorite really, really says so much! My birthday is in June, and I love sitting at the "back porch" tables looking at the hazy tree covered hills and the Licking River. They have a long sloping yard that leads down to the river, which is perfect to let the kids run for a while during our pre-dinner drinks. The ladies room always has nice, scented hand lotion (not the cheap kind). The service is not slow... it is relaxed and relaxing. This is not fast food, this is a dining experience. Yes, the floor is not always where you expect it to be, the screen door bangs way too hard, sometimes you have to wait for a table. Good things come to those who wait! I always have frog legs for my appetizer, shrimp scampi over pasta and Kaluha pie for my birthday dessert. It makes my mouth water thinking about it! I don't enjoy very spicy food but my husband does, so he goes for the Cajun selections. My kids are happy with the chicken tenders and a salad and playing in the big yard by the river. My dad always has a B&B "up" to savor after dinner. I'm full and sleepy and happy when I leave. Want off the beaten path of cookie cutter "sit down" restaurants? This is perfect, in every way!
