About Woodhaven, NY
Woodhaven is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. Most of the city's commerce is focused around Jamaica Avenue. The avenue is home to many small stores, most of them are locally owned. Most of the homes in the city are of Victorian and Colonial architecture and some are over 120 years old. Some of the scenes from the movie "Goodfellas" were filmed in Neir's Tavern, which is in Woodhaven. One of the neighborhoods major attractions is Forest Park, known for it's carousel, play grounds, band shell and golf course. The city also hosts an annual street fair and a motorcycle parade to commemorate veterans. Students here attend P.S. 60 Woodhaven, P.S. 97 Forest Park or the New York City Academy for Discovery. Famous people with ties to the neighborhood include actor Adrien Brody and author of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" Betty Smith.
