About Hartselle, AL
Hartselle, the second largest city in Morgan County, is part of the Decatur metro area of Alabama. Founded in 1870, with the arrival of the North and South Alabama Railroad, the city was named after one of the railroads owners, George Hartselle. The city has been nicknamed "The City of Southern Hospitality". Hartselle's economy is largely based on small hometown businesses, with a few larger companies located in the area. Among these businesses are producers of furniture, lumber, plywood, and other building components. Students living here attend the Hartselle City School System. The city also hosts many annual events such as Depot Days and the Halloween Carnival. Famous people with ties to the city include journalist William Bradford Huie and former NCAA president Wilford S. Bailey.
