A Real Get-Away
Life around DC can be kind of hectic. So a weekend at Graves Mountain Lodge was just what the doctor ordered--peace and quiet, delicious, home-cooked food, a dose of nostalgia, plenty of fresh air, recreation, and beautiful views. No cell phone service to speak of...which is what I wanted! No TV in the rooms. Graves Mountain is famous for their preserves, and I still dream about the biscuits. The hotel lodgings are simple, but there's rocking chairs and mountain views, and a new sparkling pool. I didn't get to the pool (next time), because I was exploring nearby Luray Caverns, and raspberry thickets and horse back riding. Graves Mountain Lodge is the kind of place you think doesn't exist anymore. But it does, and it's not that far away.
