Where do you need Senior Services ?
About Columbia Cottage of Hanover
One company that is well aware of the challenges that our aging population is facing is the Horst Group from Lancaster. Primarily a construction company, the Horst Group has been involved with building retirement communities for seniors for many years. Over thirteen years, they've been involved with building and operating their own Assisted Living communities, each called Columbia Cottage. Columbia Cottage is located in Hanover, Hershey area, Wyomissing, and Collegeville.
They know that a smaller- sized community, with several levels of care of which meet the challenges of an aging population would allow the residents to feel more 'at home'. Also, not everyone benefits from one size or from one price. Columbia Cottage has several different unit sizes and a range of prices. Residents are encouraged to bring their own home furnishings. They can enjoy controlling their own environment; each unit is fitted with its own heating and air-conditioning. "When you walk through the front door of Columbia Cottage, you feel you have entered a wonderfully warm and cozy private home", notes Orla Nugent, President of Columbia Cottage. The real value of Columbia Cottage Assisted Living Community, to the aging population and their families, is its focus on individualized care. With its unique seven levels of care, the staff will determine the best ways to help maintain and improve the independence of each individual resident. They will regularly reevaluate their services and their effectiveness. Their other services included with the base monthly rate comprise of providing home-cooked meals, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, assistance with medication, a daily activities program, and opportunities to do Posit Science, a brain fitness program. The best way to see if this is the place for you to call "home" is to come and visit. Call today not when you are in a crisis situation.

I had a relative at Columbia Cottage that I visited several times a week. The management and staff were very loving and caring. I could go to them any time with a question and they were willing to help. When my loved one went on hospice, the management and many of the staff would sit by there side when we were not able to be there. We really felt like family at the Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone that isn't able to care for a loved one at home.
