Corpus Christi, on the Texas gulf coast, enjoys a strong military presence as well as the recreational wonders of coastal living. In fact, the city is just a few miles from two of Texas' most popular beach destinations, Padre Island and Mustang Island. The military casts a large presence in Corpus Christi with its Naval Air Station and its Corpus Christi U.S. Army Depot. The waterfront also is home to the decommissioned USS Lexington.
