About Grand Junction, CO
Nicknamed "River City," the western Colorado city of Grand Junction gets its name not from a highway or a railroad crossing, but from the confluence of two rivers, the Colorado and the Gunnison (originally named Grand River). Immortalized in song by folk singer Greg Brown (http://www.gregbrown.org/gbiowaw1.html#junction), Grand Junction lies alongside Interstate 70. This city offers small town personality with large city amenities. The down town area was a model for many other down town areas with the varied shops, beautiful trees and flowers and unique pieces of art created by local Mesa county artists. The area offers wild beauty, (http://i3.photoblog.com/photos2/95040-1245883815-1-l.jpg) sophisticated shops, galleries, (http://www.merchantcircle.com/search?q=galleries&qn=grand+junction%2C+co),fams, wineries (http://www.visitgrandjunction.com/wine_country/) and unique high desert scenery. The city prides itself on the many attractions it has.
