Family Vision Center Review: In the spring of 2012, I went to the Meadowbrook Mall to have an eye exam and get new lenses installed in my glasses if necessary. After my visit with the optometrist, I went next door to Family Vision Center to have new lenses made for my existing frames. At the initial appointment, I was given the impression that this would not be a problem. I spoke with Family Vision Center and we began the process of having my lenses made. When I first went back to try the new lenses, the prescription was off and the fit and look of the glasses was not as it had been. I worked with the optometrist to adjust the prescription and that issue was quickly resolved. However, Family Vision Center was not able to fix the look and fit of my lenses/ frames. After the new lenses were installed, the glasses set crooked on my face and would slide off of my face if I looked down for 10-15 seconds. Also, the lenses poked out of the frames. She told me that the place I had originally bought the frames from should never have sold me those frames for my prescription. She also told me that they had overheated the frame to make the original lenses fit. I told her that I thought that was incorrect as my original lenses never poked out of the bottom of my frame and my glasses never set crooked or slid off of my face until the new lenses were installed by her. She also continued to reiterate that the frames did not fit with my prescription. I asked her why she would knowingly try to put lenses in my frame that did not fit with my prescription and she was unable to give me an answer. If she had done this, I would have likely sold the frames and purchased new frames. However, her ineptness ruined my frames and barred this option for me. This same argument took place over several visits to Family Vision Center. Family Vision Center was completely unwilling to acknowledge any mistake on her part, even though she was working with my prescription sunglasses as well during that same time period, and had to have them sent out of office to a lab to have the original tinting she had applied, fixed. My interest in this matter was recently renewed when I went to another provider and was informed that the lenses in my glasses were incorrect for my prescription. In their professional opinion, this mistake likely resulted in my frames being ruined. Initially, I purchased these frames as a long term investment. Working with Family Vision Center and Family Vision Center was my first and only attempt to have my lenses replaced and the frames were ruined. I have pictures proving that the frames were not over heated and misshaped before Family Vision Center attempted to replace the lenses. I will never go back there. Their customer service is terrible and the do not care one bit for their customers. ...read more
